The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre allows families to enter the mind of the ever-inventive Roald Dahl! The museum explains the inspiration behind Dahl’s works, whilst providing plenty of exciting and interactivities along the way too!

 

What’s more, The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre hold plenty of workshops and storytelling activities across the year too! Such activities range from; crafting clay pots inspired by stories like 'Danny The Champion of the World’ and ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’, and nature walks led by one of the Dahl-experts that work at the Museum.

Bekonscot Model Village & Railway

As the world’s oldest original model village, The Bekonscot Model Village in Buckinghamshire provides a fantastic opportunity for families to experience a relaxing day out whilst enjoying the eccentricities of the attraction. Bekonscot is made up of several separate model villages, all of which are based on 1930s England!

Hertfordshire Zoo

The Hertfordshire Zoo shall be holding multiple themed weekends throughout the summer holidays. These weekends include Sun Bear, Binturong and Otter weekend on the 26th May, tiger weekend 27th July and bird weekend 3rd August. These weekends will allow children to learn more about the animals that call Paradise Wildlife Park their home, all whilst enjoying plenty of fun activities along the way! What’s more, if you happen to be ‘Blue Peter’ badge holder, you can gain FREE entry into this fantastic zoo in Hertfordshire.

College Lake Nature Reserve

The College Lake Nature Reserve is a fantastic nature reserve, which is home to a wide variety of wetland birds and unmissable agricultural exhibits! Throughout the summer, the College Lake Nature Reserve has a lovely selection of activities to help encourage your little one’s interested in nature!

 

This nature reserve has a variety of paths, including child-friendly walks – allowing your kids to happily enjoy a walk, all whilst checking off each bird that they spot along the way. What’s more, the College Lake Nature Reserve has a few eco-friendly play areas, which is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic, or let your little ones run around in a safe zone designed for families.

 

 

 

Nature Walks in The Chess Valley

Whilst staying at North Hill Farm over the summer holidays, we highly recommend that you advantage of the warmer season by exploring Hertfordshire's stunning natural beauty! From the scenic Chorleywood Common to the breathtaking Stocker’s Lake Nature Reserve, there are plenty of walking trails suitable for families in the local area.

Now the nights are getting a bit shorter and the days are only getting warmer - there’s no better time than now to play a few rounds of Disc Golf! Our on-site 13-hole Disc Golf course provides guests with exceptional views over the Chess Valley – but try not to be distracted by the beautiful scenery, go on and beat your family at a game of Disc Golf too!
